Ingredients
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 1 garlic clove, chopped
- 1 tbs butter, chopped
- 1/4 cup cheddar cheese, cut into small cubes.
- Salt and pepper
- 1 lb lean ground beef
- Olive oil
- Slices of cheddar cheese
- Hamburger buns
Directions
Heat olive oil over medium heat. Cook onions and garlic for 5 minutes. Remove from heat. In medium sized bowl, mix cooked onion, garlic, butter, cheddar cheese, salt and pepper. Form beef into patties. Make a well in the middle of each patty and put a spoonful of the onion mixture into the well. Cover the well by forming and shaping the patties. Cook over medium heat for 5 minutes, flip and cook for another 3 to 5 minutes (or until desired doneness) Top with cheese slices.
Tips
- In the summer, grill the burgers.
- For a leaner burger use ground turkey. Increase cooking time to ensure the meat is cooked throughly.
